Notes and Instructions (please read):
- You can tell the convoy to stop/start using the F10 communication menu. The convoy starts as soon as the mission starts so if you have some things to do before taking off tell it to stop.
- This mission randomly spawns pre-planned "events" each time you launch it meaning you are very unlikely to fly twice the same mission. “Events” can be baddies roaming around, preparing ambushes, planting IEDs etc.
- For IEDs: You just spotted something shady, you think it could be an IED (Improvised Explosive Device), what should you do ? If you stop the convoy within 1km of the suspected IED, you will have a new option in the F10 menu to ask the EODs (Explosive Ordnance Disposal Specialist) of the convoy to go and inspect the suspected IED. If they do find one, they will perform a BIP (Blow In Place) - so don’t over-fly it… If they don’t find anything they will report to you and you can tell the convoy to proceed.
Alternatively, if stopping the convoy doesn’t seem judicious given the situation or of you are lazy, you can perform an unconventional BIP yourself by shooting at the suspected IED; if there is a big BOOM, congrats it was an IED; if there isn’t a big BOOM, you probably just shot a civilian.
- Speaking of civilians, there is light civilian traffic so refrain from shooting everything that moves.
- This mission has been designed with the Gazelle L (and eventually the future Kiowa) in mind, as such no single event should be unmanageable by you and the convoy (it is led by two Bradley’s). However, given the random nature of the spawn, the mission can be literally uneventful or you find yourself fighting the entire ISIS contingent of the region. If that’s the case keep in mind that you can rearm and refuel at either Kharab Isk or Tal Siman; your call whether or not to tell the convoy to stop and wait for you.
- Keep in mind that your mission is to protect the convoy, as such don’t go too far ahead of the convoy and do not linger behind to finnish some baddies as you don’t know what the convoy might encounter ahead.
- There are currently 25 "events” that can spawn independently from each other. Each has a 10% probability of spawning. Using your highschool knowledge, calculate the probability of having: a) 0 event spawning, b) 2 events spawning, c) more than 4 events spawning. d) tell me whether or not you think the mission is balanced.
