and FLIR Development Progress.

28 January 2022

Dear Fighter Pilots, Partners and Friends,

Included in this Open Beta 2.7.10 you will find enhancements to the DCS core, the addition of the Viper’s ALQ-184 Long Pod, improvements to the Tomcat’s AIM-54 Phoenix, and much more. Please check out the full changelog.

This week, we are pleased to share improvements to our new Forward Looking InfraRed (FLIR) system that will be used for the AH-64D and other targeting pods and thermal imagers used in aircraft in DCS. We are currently completing the dynamic thermal textures required for the huge number of units and ground objects, and progress is good. Check out the In Development Screenshots here.

It is with pleasure that we announce our participation in the Steam 2022 Lunar Sale, and you will find up to 50% savings across our entire product range. Remember, the sale on our Store will end on the 7th of February at 15:00 GMT.

Thank you for your passion and support.

Yours sincerely,

In Open Beta 2.7.10, fixes and additions have been added to both DCS core and modules. A number of AI-related bugs and crashes have been fixed, and the Messages History log is a new feature that enables you to find all previous radio and trigger messages.

The DCS: F-16C now has Dive Toss (DTOS) bombing mode, and the long version ALQ-184 ECM pod has been added. Please watch the details in Matt Wagner’s Viper tutorial series: DCS: F-16C Viper | DTOS. The F-14A/B Tomcat’s AIM-54 Phoenix now boasts refined and corrected performance based on updated CFD data analysis.

Improvements have also been made to the DCS: M-2000C Mirage autopilot. Significant fixes and additions to DCS: JF-17 Thunder, DCS: AV-8B NightAttack, DCS: MiG-19P Farmer, and other aircraft have also been made. A number of additions are also included in our paid campaigns. Read the full changelog.

FLIR

Development Progress

EDGE 2.7

For air, land, and sea units and terrain objects, we are developing special thermal textures with several channels that allow heat signatures to adjust based on the activity of the unit, time of day, ambient air temperature, and more. For example, when the engine is started, the engine compartment and exhaust system begin to heat up. After driving, the undercarriage, transmission, wheels and tracks also heat up. Guns and launchers also cool down smoothly with inactivity.

This will be implemented for modules that use modern FLIR sensors, such as the AH-64D, F-16C, A-10C, and F/A-18C.
