The troubles in the Caucasus region have intensified over the last few months. So much so that the Stennis task force itself has become subject to attacks.
You are a member of the recently arrived F18C force on board. It is 8.00 am on a misty July morning, wind is calm. You are ready to go and are connected to Cat 4 with engines running.
“Python”, a group of three Hornets are on Cats 1 to 3 and ahead of you in the flight schedule.
Visibility is not great.
You are call sign “Raptor” consisting of a single F18C.
Your mission is to commence a patrol which will take you from the Stennis to the air base Sochi Adler. Apart from supporting any ground troop calls during the patrol you are to land at the air base and retrieve critical documents from a Major Rogers. These you are to bring safely back to the Stennis.
The mission is fully voiced and should take about 70 minutes.
Rev 4 switched on Stennis ICSL Channel 1
The mission is relatively easy but you will need to be able to refuel and rearm, for air threats only, at Sochi Adler. You are currently armed with Mark 83 bombs.
The mission is trigger based and so you will need to follow instructions and way points as directed.
There is no need to operate the radio as all calls are trigger based and voiced.
Labels are on (I use reduced dots in VR) you can switch them off if you want.
You should not park your Hornet in front of the Majors Jeep as he is likely to move off as soon as he has made the drop. Hes a busy man!
On your return journey, if you should make it, I have given two options. The documents can be returned to the Stennis, as per the mission brief, using Tacan 10X. ICSL Channel 1. If you have not mastered the dark art of carrier landings yet you can take the documents to Sukhumi Air Base by following way points 7 and 8. The mission will prompt you at the correct time.
Suggest you watch your fuel levels on the trip home.
Hope you enjoy!
