Situation Update:
On Day 6, a decisive blow was dealt to the Iranian Navy's 3rd Combat Fleet within the strategic confines of the Hormuz Strait. This engagement resulted in the debilitating loss of seven battleships and a crucial submarine. Concurrently, a carpet bombing by our Air Force effectively neutralized Havadarya Airbase. This significant airstrike has forced the Iranian Air Force to send their fighter jet from Lar Airbase, approximately 100 nautical miles distant, to conduct CAP task over the Bandar Abbas region. Day 7 marked a shift in the weather dynamics, with the cessation of rainfall enabling our allied ground forces to resume their offensive. Notably, the 4th and 5th Regiments of the Marine Corps' 1st Division made substantial progress on the eastern flank, reaching the outskirts of Minab by dawn. Intense combat ensued in the morning hours as our forces engaged in a fierce battle for control of Minab City. In a strategic development, our intelligence unit intercepted critical information regarding the movements of the Iranian 3rd Combat Fleet. The remnants of this fleet, now stationed within the Bandar Abbas Naval Base, include one frigate, one corvette, and two fast attack craft, accompanied by two support cargo ships. Their mission is to deploy deep-water mines in the Hormuz Strait in the afternoon. These vessels are currently docked at the Naval Base Terminals, actively loading deep-water mines and essential supplies. Furthermore, another corvette and a submarine are undergoing maintenance in the repair shipyards. In response, the Fifth Fleet Commander has strategized a preemptive strike to neutralize the remaining assets of the Iranian Navy's 3rd Battle Fleet before they can execute their mine-laying operations. To this end, the CVN-71 Strike Group organized a surgical strike package comprising two flights, each consisting of four F/A-18C jets from the VFA-97 Squadron. The operation also faces significant challenges. Although the rainfall has ceased, the operational area is still hindered by dense cloud cover, obstructing targeting pod visibility. Compounding this, the Iranian army has deployed multiple GPS jamming devices around Bandar Abbas, effectively disrupting GPS signals. This interference renders laser-guided and GPS-guided weapons inoperable within the operation zone. To circumvent these obstacles, the AGM-62 Walleye with datalink is selected as the weapon of choice. Its capability to penetrate cloud cover and deliver precision strikes makes it ideally suited for the mission. Concurrently, a Fighter Sweep team from the Air Force will be airborne shortly, tasking to neutralize the enemy CAP Flights over Bandar Abbas. Achieving air supremacy is crucial for facilitating multiple airstrike missions in the Bandar Abbas operation area. This coordinated approach underscores the strategic depth and tactical acumen of our forces, as we endeavor to maintain dominance in this critical theater of operations.
