Initial painting of AF 75-262 "Jaws" for A-10C II
This is my interpretation of the original painting of AF 75-262 "Jaws" as it first appeared at Nellis AFB. This air frame was repainted during the course of the program but this is the "cleaner" version that I remember seeing pictures of in the 70s.
This is a couple of weeks work with about half a week dedicated to collecting and collating references and images. I returned to original photos and the work and descriptions of several scale models groups. In particular the excellent work of Dana Bell for Hyperscale.
The texture is as accurate as i could make it, there are some places where i had to rely on intuition. Especially the undersides and insides of the engines. The 57th TTW shields are a little oversized but any smaller and they would have been too fuzzy to bother with. The skin also features a "faked" 3 digit number and custom stencil numbers as seen on the original, this allows having the correct 262 number code.
Special thanks to Speckfire for QCing for me.
