[SP/Coop] F/A-18C Mission Syria - Unfortunate Events

Story based mission with voice calls. Designed for one or two Hornet Pilots. Fictional scenario based on a real incident in Syria. Newcomer friendly with basic A2G and A2A skills required. US Marines get dragged into a border incident during a close air support mission.

It’s 2015 and Syria is the theatre of an unprecedented war. Russia is aiding the Syrian government in their efforts against the Islamic State in the region.We have reason to believe that al-Assad in cooperation with the Russian Forces is using the war as a cover to remove any political opposition. NATO forces are conducting Air Strikes against members of the Islamic State and are preparing ground based operations. We already have the first boots on the ground with more to come . The Syrian air space is currently in a very tense state with active Fire Missions of both NATO and OPFOR Forces, it is of utmost importance, that we are careful not to cause any diplomatic disaster, so stay sharp.  [Alternative version of real events]

A small MARSOC unit has been sent into a village to locate and retrieve relevant Intel regarding enemy movement. Two AH-1Z Cobra Attack Helicopters are ready as QRF on LHA-1 “Tarawa”. Two VMFA-251 Hornets from Incirlik are orbiting in Turkish airspace and are available for backup and support of all ground operations in the area.

You are the Pilot of one of the two VMFA-251 stationed in Incirlik Turkey. Prepare for Takeoff and taxi to runway 05 to wait for takeoff clearance. Proceed to WP1 at the Turkish border you will receive further orders on route.

Turn on your Guard frequency on the radio to avoid unintended conflict with the  Russian fighters.
