WHAT IS THIS MADNESS
This is, very simply, just a single gauge in your P-51D cockpit - the airspeed gauge - translated into KIAS, KPH and... Rage Faces. Yes, thats right, airspeed can be read with Rage Faces. Pretty accurately too. This also includes an MPH standard gauge with my recommended speed marker pins for flaps, gear, final approach & touchdown, as usual with my cockpit mods.
PLEASE NOTE: The P-51D's IAS gauge is VERY not surgical or precise in reality, nor is it in DCS. It's close/good enough to fly safely, thats about it. It is a progressive dial instrument, which means that as the needle sweeps around the gauge face, it may read more/fewer measured units per X number of degrees swept by the gauge needle. Thats why it looks weird, because it is.
As such - the gauge was designed with Miles Per Hour in mind.
KPH: I've set the large tick marks at 100 KPH increments and done my best to make it usable - the smaller ticks are 20kph increments, the rest you can figure out just be eyeballing it, it should make sense (as much as the MPH one does anyway in terms of its stupid progressive increments!)
MPH: I've simply added the color coded marker pins. That's it. Keep reading.
KIAS: Converted to read in KIAS with large ticks every 50 KIAS read, small ticks ever 10 KIAS read. Personally I prefer KIAS as that's... well, it's what I fly in with real airplanes, and most of the rest of world does too. Enjoy.
Rage Faces: Lets be honest, taildraggers are flown almost entirely by feel alone (seat of the pants, ladies!) and as such, you are really only looking at your airspeed during a fight to ensure you don't over-dive and hit VNE, and during the pattern right before landing you want to hit your safe flaps/gear speeds, then your ideal approach speed, and then from there on out your eyeballs need to be on the runway. KIAS ticks are still on the for-fun-only Rage Faces gauge version, but this one is just for fun, and not to be used for surgical observance of airspeed (duh).
