Towards the end of the war, some photo recon Spitfires shed their "PR Blue" paint scheme in favor of the more high performing "bare metal" finish.  Here is how PA-982 appeared in 1945.  It is debated whether the nose was painted blue or yellow at that time, however based squadron historical records, I have chosen yellow.

PA-982 was a modified Spitfire serving with the 14th Photographic Reconnaissance Squadron, 7th Photographic Reconnaissance Group, 8th Air Force providing high-speed long range photo recce.  Spitfire IXs serving in this role had their guns replaced with fuel tanks and had the endurance to reach Berlin.
