Real World Units of the Syrian Armed Forces  ***Update*** Minor errors corrected  at Mark Aa Suntan North/South, Qabr As Sitt, Sayqal, Marj Ruhayyil & Bassel Al-Assad. Also added an xls with details of the units

This is a map which has real world data on the Syrian Army OrBat circa 2000-2010, covering AirForce Air Defence and Ground units (but not infantry) within the limits of DCS). Real unit names are used for everything down to brigade level (except artillery brigades) for Airforce and Army units, based on various sources, many of which are incomplete or contradictory; so please dont scream if wikipedia says something is different - or that none of the MiG25s are serviceable.
It's NOT designed to be a playable map in it's current state. To do so, units outside of the Area of Operation for a mission should be de-activated, hidden and/or deleted as required so as to allow decent performance and to see something other than circles :-)

Air Force.
Units are placed individually in real world locations as AI aircraft (uncontrolled so destroyable) unless a given airbase has insufficient parking to accomodate in which case some static models are used.

Air Defence.
(Approximate) real world locations* have been used for all stragetic air defence assets > SA2, SA3 SA6 and the single known SA300 unit as well as All EWR sites (EWRs units are all 1L13s due to DCS limitations) . There are notable omissions of the 4 S200 sites, however I have located these and placed S200 Tin Shield Search Radars as BlueFor there to make it obvious (No idea why we have the radar but not the SAM). I have no great suggestions on what to do here.  Tactical SAM systems are unmapped, however quantaties are shown by a single unit in the each of the map (e.g. 1 of 30). Circa 57 S1 Pantsir SAMS as they are not modelled, I would use Tunguska as a replacement and there is no information on Manpads. All of these units should be deployed as you see fit, in reality they are mobile and are likely to be used for point defence of Airfields combat units and strategic targets.
*locations are based on info here (http://www.ausairpower.net/APA-Syria-SAM-Deployment.html) and tweaked so ensure that sites arent on the side of a hill, in a forrest or city for example.

Army
There is little location information for Army units. There are known divisional HQ locations, but I figured having a division all sat at HQ is pointless and the info is too sketchy. I have modelled Tanks, IFVs and Artillery for 1 and 2 corps. 3 corps is not a primary fighting unit so I have ignored it. Each invividual vehicle represents a brigade of typically 30-45 vehicles. Each model has the detail of the number of vehicles it represents. Due to the 99 model group limit artillery had to be grouped together.
Tanks are all represented by T55s, however around 40% are actually T72s with the rest being mostly T55s and T62s.
IFVs are represented by BMP2s however all common soviet types are in use. The breakdown is unknown so feel free to randomise if deploying say a brigate of 31 IFVs for a mission.
Artillery brigades are represented as a 122mm SPAA with 30 units or GRAD MLRS with 15 units. Due to the 99 limit I could not add the towed artillery which is actually the bulk of the real world units.
I have not modelled Infantry or transport.

For mission makers I would suggest using DSMC or similar. with units outside of the AO de-activated and if movement of those units is needed then to have a single model to represent that movement (e.g a single unit to represent an entire division.) with individual armoured units added within the AO.
If anyone does use this to create a mission all I ask is to share it with me
