368th Fighter Group was one of the most successful P-47 Groups of WW2. “Lizzy” P-47D-30-RE 44-20456 was flown By Capt. Les “Lizzy” Leavoy of the 397th Fighter Squadron the “Jado Angels”. Capt Leavoy survived the war going on to fly 11 Different aircraft. Flying 83 combat missions in the P-47 and 247 in F-100 Super Sabre with a total of 6500 hours in Fighters. Capt. Leavoy was awarded with the Legion of Merit, the Distinguished Flying Cross (with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters), and The Air Medal (with 21 Oak Leaf Clusters). He finished his Military career at rank of Lt Colonel.
