CHOPPER UNIVERSITY Welcomes Helicopter & Jet Pilots of all skill levels!!

***** (ME Current Version is Version:1.221104) ADDED: MORE CHOPPERS, RANDOM RESPAWNING ENEMY SHIPS, SUBS, TANKS & AIRCRAFT | PLAYER Tanks that assign Missions | SCORING for Players | some of RED & BLUE Tanks are recalled/replaced

*** And, of course, Three or even more Players can play this multiplayer mission.

** Scoring: To Access the Score Stats use Radio Communications. Find the F10 option called and you can click on Scoring stats fr om there.

**  Update: Enemy forces are testing the strength of our units based at Al Dhafra Airport. All coalition aircraft in the vicinity need to be on Alert! Also, be advised that Inside of the Hour we expect heavier Air Traffic at Al Dhafra | Liwa & our other Coalition Airbases. This traffic will become prey to any enemy forces in the area. In short, if you are in that area you may wish to repel enemy invaders from Al Dhafra or risk becoming another prey to them. Also, there are two Main Tanks that defend Al Dhafra airfield. They are the Gepard & the Vulcan. These tanks should be protected at all costs! If either is destroyed the airfield becomes more vulnerable to future enemy attacks. Note that these two tanks do not respawn.

=========================================================================== ---->> CHOP-U MISSION SORTIES -BY LOCATION ( for all Vehicle types ) <<-------------

=========================== Al Dhafra ================================================================================================

Al Dhafra: TANKS HQ: Sortie Assignment Tanks (if you would like the next Sortie being assigned to you)

(a) TANKU-24#001 & TANKU-32#001 were recently added to the mission. TANKU-24#001 is assigned to Pilot #24 & TANKU-32#001 is assigned to Pilot #32. These Tanks are Randomly selected from a List of Blue Tanks. I wrote it this way so that the Player(s) get a chance to use several of the Tanks. The main task of these tanks is to go to Mission HQ, located in the SE corner of the Al Dhafra airfield, so they can Receive Orders which will be issued to them. So far there are 10 of the following Mission Sorties below that are being selected from. Some of the Mission Sorties come with optional choices a, b, c, d, and so on, as seen in this briefing. Players may Pick which one of the Sorties they want to fly from those choices available. (And so the amount of Sorties That can get assigned is larger than 10).

(b) Use these tanks to Transport Pilots from the Garage Hangers, located very near the tanks in the SW corner of the Al Dhafra airfield, to their next Aircraft, most of which are parked somewhere around the RadioTower found in the NE corner of the Al Dhafra airfield. Tanks can also help clear out Air threats over the Al Dhafra airfield and other ground-based attack missions.

----------------------------------

Al Dhafra:  Uh-1 Huey(s)

a) A short respite in the constant fighting between forces has allowed us to covertly parachute badly needed shipments of weapons & medical supplies needed to construct another FARP outside of the Al Dhafra Airport. Weather Conditions there tell us that a small dust storm is passing through the region. In this campaign, two Supply Soldiers are each equipped with Radio Beacons. One is Set to 40.50 FM and emits the Morse Code Characters 'CHUM' -.-. .... ..- -- (short for Chop-U Mission). The Second Radio is Set to 470 kHz AM. These soldiers have been dropped off to guard the above shipments. First, you will need to fly the Water Barrels (found nearby the UH-1's Parking Spots) outbound to these two Soldier(s) locations. When you are inside of the Drop-off zone they will Light Flares and Smoke to show wh ere you can drop down your cargo. The Drop off can be anywhere up to 400 meters fr om the Flares. Make sure the UHF Radio is Tuned TO: 252.90 UHF AM  so that you can listen for further communications from these Supply Soldiers. Also, note that if they DO GET KILLED (even run over by their own forces), their communications will die until they respawn in a new location.   TO locate these SOLDIERS: You find the direction towards them BY--  1) Use of the solid Arrow on the ADF display (RADIO COMPASS INDICATOR). Make sure it keeps pointing towards the top of the dial  2) Use the line in the Display (COURSE DEVIATION INDICATOR) which is found just below the ADF display. Make sure that it stays centered. This display is being used by the FM beacon locator. With both of these displays, you will get a good reference on the direction that the Supply soldiers are in. You need to let the display needles 'Settle' when you are flying,  especially if you are doing a lot of turning about in the Chopper. One of these displays may get damaged during an attack or hitting something with the chopper so you can still use the other display until you can get to a FARP or Airbase for repairs. Some of the FARPS may be under enemy Radar at the time you go to use one. So use caution and keep alert! Note that the COURSE DEVIATION INDICATOR can ALSO point you 180 away from your destination. This is because it only has enough information to find a directional beam, but not which way the beam is coming from. Return Flight: Use the outlined (not solid) Arrow on the ADF Display to return with your newly assigned load of cargo. It is lined up with Al Dhafra Airport. When you get there you then drop it off at the TV Tower location on Map. Be Careful of the Tv Tower and note that it is a smaller Target area since the Airport is very busy & has little room to spare.

-------------------------------

The UH-1 settings for this Sortie are as follows

--------------------------------------------------

USING THE COMMUNICATIONS CHANNEL TO REMOTE & AL DHAFRA CARGO ZONE(s)

----------------------------------------

FLIP COMM SWITCH OVER  FROM PVT OVER TO 1 (To turn on Radios) & TUNE  RADIO  COMM CHANNEL to 252.90 UHF AM (To get audible Height Information inside)

COMMUNICATING WITH AL DHAFRA: SET VHF AM NAV RADIO: Turn it on & Tune Frequency to 126.50 VHF

USING YOUR VOR: SET VHF AM NAV RADIO: Turn it on & Tune Frequency to 114.90 VHF

USING YOUR ADF & FM NAV RADIO:

SET FM NAV RADIO: Tune TO 40.50 FM  then Turn To Home (ing). Turn the Volume button down if desired.

SET AM RADIO:     Tune TO 470  kHz AM, TURN ON your ADF, and the SWITCH on the ADF/VOR button is Set on ADF (above ADF display).

----------------------------------------

FARPS 1 through 4  Communications: (Single Player Only until DCS adds this feature in for multiplayer)

Check that the VHF radio is tuned to the correct FARP frequency (in the table of AM/FM frequencies -- included below). When approaching FARPS and outside of their LANDING zone you first Sel ect F10 (other) then Sel ect F2  which opens up the ATC for the  FARP(s). Now Sel ect F1  to transmit a message to the FARP. The message is Active for 30 seconds, so if you are too far out of range you will need to issue another one. If you are inside the FARP Landing Zone's Perimeter the FARP cannot accept LANDING requests as you are too close for making the request.

(b) AIR CADETS & SPACE CADETS The Airport Cargo Drop-off zone surrounds the Large TV Tower and several CARGO loads are placed just outside of this Landing zone. These are for Uh-1 pilots to take into the landing zone so you can practice just Hooking Up & Un-Hooking to your various Loads. You can choose to either Hook Up to them in the Air or On the Ground. There are seven types of Cargo that a UH 1H can carry and you will find one of each. To get audible Height Information make sure that you are Tuned to 252.9 UHF AM  (you don't need to set any of the other Radios just for practice at dropping off your Sling loads). All Active Transport Helicopters will be awarded 500 points for each successful Drop-off into one of these two zones.

(c) Pick up any Airborne soldier Groups found approaching the Two small Radio Towers at the end of Al Dhafra Airport Runway 13L. As you approach them you will be instructed (on 126.9 AM) to Disembark them at FARP1 (SE of Airfield), FARP2 (SW of Airfield), FARP3 (NW of Airfield) OR at FARP4 (NW of Airfield). They will Scout out below these FARP areas for IEDs and return on their own. Points are awarded to any Transport Helicopters at the FARP when they respawn back at the Airfield (on their own). You can command the Soldier Group to fight in the area surrounding the FARP and bring the surviving Soldiers back to it so they can respawn. Any Helis at this FARP at that time will be awarded 250 points for the successful completion of this sortie.

(d) Do Sortie 'a' above and then consider doing the F18's sortie 'd'. If you successfully complete both tasks you will get points for each one. ----------------------------------

Al Dhafra:  A10 WARTHOGS

(a) There have been enemy tanks & air assets probing our strength spotted along our South Eastern Perimeter. Choose to fight off either, just protect our Perimeter (or die trying).

(b) A10-II --The newer Warthog. Take Out Enemy Shipping with these upgraded A10(s) and then turn these beasts on the enemy Tanks, FARP & HQ Targets. ----------------------------------

Al Dhafra: SA342 & Mi-8(s)

(a) Several SA342 Gazelles were recently captured after our team sabotaged the enemy's Train tracks (found around Dubai). Three types of these Helicopters have been dropped off at Al Dhafra. Use them to help the Airbase fight off any Air & Ground assaults.

(b) Our IL-76 takes Jet Fuel over to Al Bateen. At times it has been attacked by enemy tanks prowling around the perimeter of our defenses at Al Dhafra. Take any tanks out that might pose a threat to this crucial Flight. All of our islands depend on these shipments of Jet Fuel.

---------------------------------

Al Dhafra: Mi-8(s)

(a) The Mi8-TVs found here are equipped to do Rocket attacks on enemy Tanks and such. Feel free to sel ect your own payload type. This payload was just set up experimentally. Attack the enemy Ground Targets at your will.

(b) MI8-Tv Sortie: Read the Uh1 'b' Sortie above & just replace the word Uh-1 with MI8-Tv.

    It's Radio Pre-settings are : 828 FM:| 1 | 40.5 ||| 863 AM:| 1 | 126.5 | 2 | 119.9 | 3 | 126.9 | 4 | 127.5 | 5 | 251 | 6 | 251.2 | 7 | 252.9 |

(c) MI8-Tv Sortie: (Airborne soldier Groups) Read the Uh1 'c' Sortie above.For Radio (audio) Switch over to Channel 3 and have the Preset Switch turned to ON before you approach the Transport Zone.

(d) In this Sortie you fly an MI-8TV over to AL-Bateen Airfield to pick up crates found nearby the Control Tower there (two are on a rooftop). You then make a return trip and drop Slingloads at the TV Tower at Al Dhafra. This is the same place Uh-1 and Ka-50 Pilots may be dropping off Sling loads so make sure to coordinate your team efforts. Switch over to Channel 2 and have the Preset Switch turned ON before you approach Al Bateen.

(e) Pick up crates found at a warehouse just NE of the TV Tower & fly your MI-8TV over to AL-Bateen Airfield and drop off crates into the field with the Water Tower in it. You could make a return trip by doing the last part of Sortie 'd' above.

---------------------------------

Al Dhafra: AH-64(s)

(a) These were recently shipped into Al Dhafra and they have been configured to fire Missiles & Rockets at whichever type of enemy that you choose to defend the Airfield fr om. 'GOGETEM' is the local team chant before each Takeoff.

(b) Enemy Aircraft are using Sas Al Nakheel (at the nearby Umm al Nar Island) for landing their aircraft. Destroy them on the Tarmac or in the Air

(c) Our Uh-1 Hueys are being attacked by enemy Air and Ground forces. Distract the enemy away fr om them and take down any enemy Helicopters, ships, OR tanks that are dumb enough to get inside your range of fire. This is a coalition flight with at least 1 person being an Uh-1 Huey pilot on a routine supply run. NEED Two players or even more for this Sortie.

(d) In this Sortie, your AH-64 needs to protect a player-operated MI-8TV, which itself has to pick up a Surgical team & wounded soldier fr om the end of Al Dhafra Airfield. The AH-64 will then make a return trip back to Al Dhafra to disembark them.

---------------------------------

Al Dhafra: Ka-50

(a) Do the Uh-1's Sortie 'a' above that Slings Barrel Cargo loads & bringing any return Cargo back to the TV tower. (just replace the word Uh-1 with Ka-50 & set your Radios accordingly)

(b) Do the Uh-1's Sortie 'b' above that Practices Carrying other Sling Loads over to the TV Tower.

(c) Use this chopper for the general defense of Al Dhafra or for short strikes at enemy Helicopters & Tanks.

----------------------------------

Al Dhafra:  F18(s)

(a) Our coalition is attempting to set up Early Warning Radar (EWR) several kilometers South of the Enemy forces. They are likely to try to take them down.  We need capable F18 pilots able to Intercept anything the enemy might use.

(b)  (i) Enemy forces are probing the strength of our defenses at Al Dhafra Airport. We have been constantly Harassed by the enemy. Any aircraft taking off or landing there do so at its own risk. The Airport needs to be defended fr om these Harassing enemy Air and Sea Attacks.

     (ii) Al Dhafra is sending IL-76 Jets Carrying fuel to supply AL Bateen (just NNE of AL Dhafra), which itself is supplying the fuel to Kish Airfield & Lavan Island (located 125 nm just slightly NNW of Al Bateen), as well as Sir Abu Nyar Island (North). The IL-76's flight is scheduled to start up each hour or thereabouts. The IL-76 can even repair itself from some of the attacks while on the tarmac! When this plane starts to move you need to DEFEND it at all costs from enemy Air, ground & sea threats. Some of the II-76 flights MUST make it to Al Bateen or 3 dependent Islands will eventually run out & shut down any Aircraft taking off.

    (iii) A MQ-A1 predator & a Reaper periodically Take off from Al Bateen and go deep into the enemy formations that have formed in the SW to SE of Al Dhafra. Go and fly with them and when they are ready to search they will start transmitting On 51.00 AM & 251.20 AM, respectively. You will then be able to connect with them for JTAC operations. This Sortie is still being tested. Not quite working as I have a few issues with the DCS JTAC working.

(c) (i) Al Dhafra to Aircraft Carriers: F18(s) ** --Don't forget to set FLAPS. drop HOOK AND LANDING GEAR More Advanced ICLS training. Pilots may wish to hone their TACAN & ICLS skills by landing at one of the Carriers in our Fleet (found around FARP 5 --just West of Al Dhafra). In this Sortie, you carry a small & very TOP SECRET Cargo Box to one of these vessels. Turn on Comm1, Sel ect a free channel, and program it to 126.900 AM. It is on this Frequency that you will be assigned a Carrier to fly to. As you taxi to Takeoff at Al Dhafra, there are two locations at Al Dhafra which do assign you these Carrier Sorties. Each can be visually spotted by 3 pieces of Airport Equip parked nearby. You will need to turn slightly off the taxiway into one of these spots to receive your assignment on 126.900 AM. ** Some of these approaches to the Carrier may be under enemy Radar & Possible Harassment by the enemy shipping ** If you are worried that the Carrier assigned to you is too difficult to land on, that you may get attacked, or if you just want to do a return trip, you can always Reroute to another Carrier in the Fleet ( which can be found above FARP 5 ). Check the Table below to find the Carrier that you can Reroute to. (No one will even look sideways at you). Ok, with that established, now you can Turn on your TACAN and Get the Heading and Distance to your Assigned/Selected Carrier. Fly towards it until you get within 50 nm and then Contact the Carrier to receive info related to your final approach. Use Course the CSEL button to SET the Carrier's runway heading. That is you input the Final Approach Heading (carrier's runway heading) into CSEL by using the Course sel ect button and the numeric Keypad. **Note: some Carriers may be under Patrol and will change their course at times. In this case, you will need to check (and recheck) the Final Approach heading (Via ATC) before the correct final approach on a moving Carrier can be safely obtained by contacting Carrier via the ATC. ~~ Note that you can set up Routes for stationary Carriers, just remember to Set them to HOLD & GREEN so they do not Fire upon the enemy as the Carriers are just there for landings & Takeoffs only.

    (ii) The enemy Aircraft at the Practice range is getting a bit 'Snarky'. If you want to up your Score Points in the game, go get them and land on your assigned Carrier to rearm/refuel!

    (iii) IF YOU WANT to do a RETURN TRIP: 1) Refuel & REFIT F18 WITH the Litening POD & 4xGBU 100s. ATTACK Enemy shipping or FARP assets found near Al Dhafra. OR 2) Our underground intelligence has found out there is a Cement Factory, found just inside the Mountain Range which is North of our Airfield at Lavan Island. Consult MAP (F10) if needed. This Factory is a large source of revenue for the enemy. Destroy it. Refuel & ReArm at Island as needed. If needed, or for practice, tune your Radio to its frequency: VOR 116.85 Mhz AM LVN, and use your ADF. Note that enemy Sukhoi Jets have been spotted Taking off fr om LAR Airbase. Reports say there are too many there to Take out, however, engage & kill one or two if needed to survive. Return to Carrier for Rearming & Refueling when the objective has been completed.

(d) Warning: This Sortie is not for everyone! There have been reports of enemy insurgents working somewhere within the perimeter of our Forces stationed around Al Dhafra airfield. It is said that these insurgents have disguised themselves as an SGT & a CPL & have found themselves positions in transporting some of our CARGO shipments. We have discovered shortages and an investigation shows that they have been pilfering some of these supplies and reportedly selling them off the enemy Forces! We are asking for a volunteer to 'Take care of this serious problem (and maybe get a bit of target practice in as well). Setting Comm 1 to Chan 18 as well as setting the switch(s) for the Beacon (BCN) and the ADF over to position 1 will greatly aid in locating them. And remember, it is not really Fratricide when they are, in fact, enemy agents! You will be Penalized for some points but also are awarded some points for successfully completing this Sortie. Once removed, Good soldiers are then sent in as new SUPPLY Sgts & Cpls. They do ask that you try not to shoot at them! Oh, the enemy may kill the bad ones off by attacking them thinking they are part of our Forces. (Enemy Fractricide).In this case, you won't need to do this sortie. Our Forces will be notified either way whenever they do die.

(e) This Sortie is a necessary one to ensure that some supporting unmanned aircraft have not been damaged so they cannot land anymore. In specific, the IL-76 (refitted), the Predator, and the Reaper are all Unmanned Aircraft that are used in this mission & when shot at will DO NOT FLY THEIR ASSIGNED ROUTES anymore. It might be possible to issue them Waypoint commands but they NEVER land until they run out of fuel. Which is forever. Due to this situation, F18s are needed to shoot these aircraft down so that new ones can come along to fly the assigned routes. Your score DOES NOT get affected by doing this. Guide these aircraft, if you can get control of them, away fr om cities (if they are not too shot up, that is).

(f) (i) There are two trains carrying enemy CARGO along the tracks running from Al Maktoum NE to the outskirts of Dubai (you can refer to the Map in the included images). One train can be identified by first blue then yellow tankers being powered by a Heavy Traction ES44AH six-axle diesel-electric locomotive & the other is somewhat less easy to spot. Further East around the Dubai Airport is two other passenger trains that transport munitions workers around the vicinity of Dubai Airport. IF a Helicopter is escorting one of these Trains along its route this train will be carrying some High-level Scientists & Engineers. An enemy tank has been spotted moving about. THESE 4 TRAINS need to be incapacitated at all costs! BEWARE as enemy EWR will also bring up flights of Mig 29 jets that will come to attack anything in the airspace. Keeps your eyes open and perhaps a spare missile or two for them. ! Note: The keypad buttons used to view the train(s) are: [Left Ctrl] + [F12] (** At first, I could not see the train at all from other vehicles so I used ED FORUMS 2 fixes by first disabling civilian Traffic and then removing two folders, fxo, and metashaders2, which get rebuilt and replaced. This made the train visible to our player/client-controlled vehicles.)

    (ii) Update: (Al Dhafra optional sortie): Havadarya AND Shiraz need a Test Pilot for flights using the ICLS/ILS systems recently installed at Both Havadarya ( TACAN 47X HDR | CILS CH 1 TST | ILS 108.90 IBHD ) ( TACAN 94 SYZ1 | CILS CH 2 | |ILS 109.90 ISYZ ). You might wish to refer to the ICLS section found under Liwa for more information. Make your landing at either airbase and the taxi to the "1" parking spot. Refer to the map, remember you will most likely cross through enemy territory and you will be required to fly at reduced airspeeds at times during tests of the Land-based ICLS. Refueling along the way is a wise option. Good luck, you are a Brave Pilot!!! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now, you might want to show off your score a bit by using our custom Scoring system that uses SMOKE emission Colors & Sound Tracks after you successfully shoot down or bomb something. You then emit (colored) smoke from the Tailpipes of your F18. The smoke color has a rating associated with it, when the Smoke Color is GOLD you are cleared to tune to a channel on COMM 2 that was assigned to each Level ( I II III  This F18-based 'Smoke & Sound Trk' TABLE can be found in one of the Briefing images. NOTE: Smoke Pods may be installed ONLY when you need to Rearm or Refuel your F18. This extra rule also restricts when the smoke can be emitted after you destroy an enemy vehicle, etc. =========================== Liwa Airbase ================================================================================================

Liwa Airbase: F18(s) -- (Reference Al Dhafra: F18 )

(a) Support Al Dhafra by bombing away at the enemy Ground & Ship Assets --(the enemy Carrier is considered a lower priority Target than any enemy Frigates, Corvettes, and destroyers). Also, keep your eye out for incoming enemies' Air and, if you can, help defend the Early Warning Radar ( EWR ) network stations that are found around Liwa from them.

(b) Help the Helicopters stationed at FARP 5 take out the enemy in the TEST RANGE found near our Carrier Fleet. Take out Air Targets & Land Targets, especially the Tanks Found at their FARP located in that vicinity. Land and Refuel/Rearm at the Stennis or the Roosevelt Carrier. Now Park, Shutdown & Restart F18, and then Takeoff via Carrier's catapult (final destination is Al Dhafra). When you fly this Sortie you may decide to choose one of the other Carriers to Land at... If so, assign your TACAN ICLS and Radio to the ones which are designated to each Carrier.

(c) Joint (2 players) sortie: One player searches for an enemy Target at either location and Fires a Laser (lases them) so the other player can lock on Target so they can Attack it with laser-guided weaponry. You might want this Sortie to also combine with a JTAC operator.

(d) (for this one the Beacon.lua file needs to be the new copy) ICLS stations were recently added at two of our Coalition airfields to Train our F18 pilots in the use of CILS --Carrier ILS (on a non-moving platform) at these 2 Airfields - Havadarya ( TACAN 47X HDR | ICLS CH 1 TST | ILS 108.90 IBHD ) AND Shiraz ( TACAN 94 SYZ1 | ICLS CH 2 | |ILS 109.90 ISYZ ). --Procedure for using TACAN: Turn on your TACAN and input the Carriers Station. Now Turn on the Course Sel ect button and hold it on until it Turns on the Display. Using the number keypad you input the Runway heading of the Airfield or Carrier you selected. To start a final approach, just keep flying until you intercept the TACAN's radial Line at 90 degrees and then follow along with it until around 20 nm fr om the destination. When you get there adjust your altitude to about 3000 Ft and your airspeed to somewhat above 280 knots. Next, Lower your FLAPS & Drop your GEAR and your HOOK. On some Carriers notice now that ONE of these 3 symbols will be lit up  " n 0 v "  , wh ere: | n = TOO LOW | 0 = GOOD | v = TOO HIGH |. Switch ON the ICLS. Keep in mind that it won't be effective until around 10nm when a long vertical line (localizer) will appear. Adjust your path to it, keeping your Airspeed to around 175 to 190 knots, your angle of attack to around 8 degrees, and your Altitude dropping down fr om the 3000 Ft range. Also, it is recommended to always try to keep inside the center of the E symbol on the Hud (which shows up when your gear is down). At around 6.5 nm ( Nautical miles ) another horizontal line will appear as well --this is the glide slope line. Adjust your Altitude according to whether you are above or below the line. You should soon see your Runway and can Visually fly your F18 to it as well. In short, you need to check VISUALLY AND using the TACAN to make sure you are not too far left or right of Runway. Note: some Carriers will offer FLOLS 'meatball' landing assistance as well. In this case, if you cannot see the ball you can respond with 'Clara' to the ATC and the LSO will help guide you onto the deck of the carrier. Refuel at any coalition Airfields or the TANKER based west of Sirri Island as the need arises. Important: Note that TACAN may lose & re-acquire the signal during long Flights at times. ALSO-- If you ever find that the distance on the Display freezes you just turn the TACAN On & Off a couple of times until it resets itself & updates to the proper display.

----------------------------------

Liwa Airbase:  Mi8-Tv(s)

(a) Our forces have managed to 'find'  several Russian-made Mi8-Tv(s). We need some brave Pilots to test out the Choppers' capabilities & find out why they are favored in so many countries throughout the world. Pick up the Cargo Sling Loads found inside the small city just outside (West) of Liwa Airbase & Transport them to a small Town Cluster found several kilometers due west of Liwa Airbase. In this Town Cluster, there are a few fields already filled with Cargo Loads. Drop off your load into the large Circular field found there and then pick up a return load. This load is to be returned to the small city & dropped off on top of the Large Grey Building inside. Caution: Some of these loads found there may be TOO heavy for you or your chopper to handle & Don't hesitate to use your map if needed. ---------------------------------- Liwa Airbase: F18(s) -- (Reference Al Dhafra: F18 )

(b) Support the Defense of Al Dhafra by removing shipping, ground, and air threats.

(c) Our Practice field, found due South of our Carrier fleet has been invaded by an enemy force. Enemy pilots now operate the Aircraft found there and are attacking FARP5, as well as our shipping & aircraft at will. We have no qualified defenders in the vicinity and need someone to take down these pesky aircraft. Sel ect a Carrier to land on or return to Liwa as you choose.

SHIRAZ: TANK BATTLE

(a) We have been Ordered to RALLY both our Groups of TANKS (based just North of Shiraz Airfield) to a Rally Muster point ~which is found 0.75 nm NW of Group '#24'. Our Tank Groups can visually Identify this intersection, closeby is a building with a single P51 Aircraft on its rooftop. ( By using Google maps I believe it is near the intersection of GHODOOSI BLVD and MotaHari Blvd) .
  Anyhow, once you are there you can find Shelter off the roads if you find that you are under enemy Tank Fire. This is the last ground wh ere it is somewhat safe to park our Tank Groups.  Destroy the Enemy Groups of Tanks patrolling in the surrounding mountains around Shiraz as well as patrolling in the Northern part of the city. (See  a map of the area in Briefing images)  Warning: There is a minefield and some of the roads are also mined. We have a Chinook Chopper that will uncover the location of these enemy mines by just flying over the enemy minefield for a couple of minutes. It does get shot at but will Respawn every hour or so. Killing off two Groups of Enemy Tanks can cause the enemy to Request two Suhkoi bombers fr om Lar Airfield to attack our Tanks.

FARP5 AS WELL AS OTHER MISSION SORTIES

================================================================================================

FARP5:  Uh-1 Huey(s)     Medics & equipment are desperately needed on the following coalition vessels:   |  i) Ticonderoga   ii)  Oliver A iii) Oliver B |  **Note that A & B are Oliver Hazzard Perry Class Destroyers. Setup your Radio to Correct the Freq of the Munitions Dock & report there to have one of these Ships assigned to you. You Communicate to the ship via the ATC commands (F5) so that you can get your distance and a heading towards it. You may also request a heading check at any time during your flight. When you get close enough, just put your Chopper lightly down on the ship's Helipad.  Bon Voyage!!

----------------

FARP5:  Mi8Tv(s)     We have managed to bring a fleet of 6 carriers into the range of the Battlezone. They have requested that we send shipments of oil tanks & other crates from the Munitions Factory's shipping Dock out to our Fleet of Carriers. You need to set the Mi8Tv's Radio (the 863) to 126.9 Mhz AM in order to find out which of the destination Carriers will get assigned to you. Use the A, Z, X, and D keys to adjust the range. WARNING: These Munitions Warehouses were captured from enemy forces & then converted into temporary Docks. Our Engineers now tell us that their structural beams have been weakened from frequent helicopter landings. So, Please land as Gently as possible... (This Dock is good practice for later landing the Chopper on a Carrier's deck). Once you are on the Dock, and after you get your Orders, you now set the  Mi8Tv(s) R-863 Radio, (which is found in its center console) to the Carrier's Frequency -- found in the Table below. Now you pick up your assigned Sling Load and make contact with the Carrier assigned. You will receive your ADF directions and distance to the Aircraft Carrier. Remember, you can get a heading check (F2)  at any time during your flight.  After unhooking your load on your selected Carrier, you can just Land the Mi8Tv there as well (use wheel chocks). Our mechanics want to tear a few down to see what makes them tick... Good luck to you, MEDICS!     --optionally refuel (& repair if needed) at the Carrier. Return to Munitions Dock at FARP 5 carrying covert instructions for the commander there & then get assigned to another load (to be taken to one of the carriers in our Fleet). -- Note: there is just enough room to spin around on the Munitions Dock -- if you back up a bit that is. Also, you may need outside assistance while doing so. (looking around from outside view)

----------------------------

FARP5:  BlackShark II(s), Mi8Tv(s)   & Gazelle Minstrel(s)

a) BlackShark II(s) & Gazelle Minstrels at FARP 5 are used for taking out both Air Air & Air to Ground enemy Targets at the PRACTICE TARGET RANGE found south of FARP 5. Use combinations of these Helicopters and the Mi8Tv(s) to do both of these tasks.

b) Some of the new Uh 1 Huey Pilots are hesitant to take their medical staff & supplies to their assigned ships. Report to the Munitions Dock and take over their orders. ***see Uh-1 Huey orders above. ----------------------------

AH1-SPY: This heli was recently put in so we could fly pilot/copilot in it as well as some F18/AH-64 or solo action against the four enemy trains, helicopter & tank found deep inside the enemy territory, leading to and surrounding Dubai Airport. Also used for Laser Targets for F18 strikes on the enemy. *** While waiting in repair mode you can check out all the other game action going on at the time. I have used the ' auto-shutdown & ' auto startup' as each of these is complex and has to be learned for each of the Aircraft under repair. Well, I may one day learn to get good enough to do it that way!

=============================

** I have put two tanks on the map. You can set their path & tell them to Fire at Targets while waiting during refueling/rearming/repairing the vehicle you use, without having to leave your current vehicle. Note: Tank trips take a while to get to their destinations.

(a) One tank is on the Far East of the Map. Its main target is the EWR found somewhere in the mountains around its final waypoint. Once that is done, two targets to the west of it need their generators taken out, and then finally taken it back to Al Dhafra Airbase to park it.

(b) The other Tank is near the top of the map and is heading towards 2 targets that also need their generators taken out, then finally use the roads all the way to HavaDarya Airfield & park it there.

TIRES ON THE ROOF? This feature was created so you can choose, at the Game Start, to add more difficulty to some of the sorties above. To use it: Fly into it to trigger it with ONE of the UH-1s found nearby the roof. It is ONLY active for the first 30 seconds of the game. (Doubles up the Cargo on the Munitions dock, enemy patrol zones at Al Dhafra move in closer, and potentially adds in more of the deadlier enemy tanks that surround Al Dhafra & at the Practice Range)
