Intel sources confirm a number of Russian cargo transports have delivered to Nalchik Airfield military equipment destined for the local rebels and remain there awaiting troops to be transported home. Russians are installing a modern air defense network, but it is not fully operational, presenting a critical window of opportunity to destroy the cargo aircraft and severely damage the rebel militia military capabilities. CSG 7 staff has planned a morning surprise attack to take advantage of this opportunity; however, due to other high priority commitments this mission will have no dedicated SEAD or CAP support.
Mission commander, Overlord, will monitor Russian communications and direct mission GO: Touchdown or NO GO: Abort. Fly NOE to Nalchik to avoid detection by the air defense net. Terrain masking on the west side of the Caucasus should conceal you fr om Russian radar. Fly NOE east of the range. Deliver pop-up attack on military equipment at Nalchik. With luck we will catch them at breakfast. Nevertheless, lim it time over target to 4 minutes or fewer.
THREATS: SA-13, manpads, Russian fighters conduct sporadic patrols.
