##Testing complete## This mission was built for an immersive experience with friends, where rotary and fixed-wing have to work together. It is based on a real capture-or-kill mission in this area which sheltered many of the hardline Taliban in the latter stages of the conflict. It is playable as single-player, but is best enjoyed with at least 1 other friend flying rotary while another flies fixed-wing. Rotary will insert Special Forces. Fixed-Wing will provide CAS and soften anti-air targets.

Following the ANA and USMC assault on the Taliban compound in Kajaki Sofla (https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3339750/), intelligence was gathered about the whereabouts of Obj SAMSON. SAMSON (aka Mullah Abdul Salam) was a prominent Taliban commander, and responsible for many USMC deaths. Having narrowed him down to village in the hostile territory of Zamindiwar, you'll fly a joint US-British mission to isolate the village, locate SAMSON, and eliminate him.

By 2013, much of Afghanistan's critical infrastructure was being built and maintained by Indian contractors - including highways, electricity, and water - a deliberate attempt to economically encircle its arch rival Pakistan. Some of these companies were fronts for India's Research & Analysis Wing (R&AW) - its foreign intelligence agency. It was not uncommon for Taliban attacks on these companies, rumoured to be directed by the ISI.
Based at Camp Shorabak - the Afghan camp next to Bastion - two Indian pilots were deployed to train Afghan pilots as part of India's arms deal with Kabul. Deployed with a pair of M-2000s, their real purpose was to provide ISTAR capability and deterrence against Taliban attacks against Indian citizens.

It's early November 2011. Operation Eastern Storm in Helmand Province has begun. Task Force Leatherneck, the ground element of the USMC expeditionary force deployed to SouthWest Afghanistan, has commenced clearing operations in the vicinity of Kajaki Sofla, northern Helmand Province.

Captain David Winters, a JTAC embedded with the USMC 1/6 in the region, is responding with a small Quick Reaction Force to reports of ANA SF under intense fire on the western edge of Kajaki Solfa. The ANA are stranded in the open under intense indirect fire.

Meanwhile some 80 miles away, you are transiting to your orbit station ready to be tasked for CAS...

Operation Steel Hammer is based on an actual mission flown in Afghanistan in 2008.  This mission asks the pilot to fly top cover for a coalition vehicle convoy to resupply the hydroelectric dam at Kajaki.  On this mission you will be challenged to provide extreme close air support in order to get the convoy through to the dam.  It’s designed to be flown as either helicopter or jet pilot and either single or multiplayer.  This mission will test your skills as a pilot and will require you utilize your targeting pod skills and sensor skills to the max.  Over 65 triggers with radio voice overs and actual sounds from real jets and helicopters make this mission deeply immersive.  Fly as a Kiowa OH-58, AH-64, A-10C, AV-8, F-4, F-14, F-15E, F-16, or F/A-18 pilot.  Kiowa pilots can even drop red smoke on targets and then watch as A-10’s take out the targets.  Enjoy this immersive and detailed mission.
