Flying the Ka-50, with a wingman, escort two Mi-8 rescue helicopters to the mountains at Mt. Elbrus, to rescue two downed pilots.
Two pilots ejected from their F14 48 hours ago. Insurgents have become aware of their location and are closing in on them. A rescue package has been put together. You will take off from a FARP and fly lead in a pair of Ka-50 Black Sharks, escorting two Mi-8 rescue helicopters. Your mission is to clear the Landing Zone and facilitate the rescue. Once the downed pilots are on board the Mi 8's, you will ensure safe egress from the area.
North of the LZ there is a valley with known insurgent infantry and some "misappropriated" AAA. You must clear the valley to the east to permit a successful egress route for the Mi 8's.
There are JTAC assets, from Special Forces, on the mountains. If you have the JTAC mod from TurboHog, you may employ the JTACS. The mission is not dependant upon the forward air controllers, but enhanced if you can use them.
AWACs is also available, but intell reports no enemy air assets.
Mission success is upon the successful exit of the valley, by the rescue helicopters and flight towards the alternate base, Nalchik.
The high altitude flying in this mission requires a high degree of skill to manage the power settings and speed. You have been selected to fly this one due to your proven abilities in the Shark. Good luck, bring them home safe!
