Errors or Crashes on startup or gameplay of DCS World

DCS crashes and doesn't work

Some IMPORTANT notes !

1. Your PC have to meet minimum or recommended system requirements:

Minimum system requirements (LOW graphics settings):

OS 64-bit Windows 10; DirectX11; CPU: Intel or AMD 3.0Ghz+ with 4+ cores; RAM: 16 GB; Free hard disk space: 200 GB; Discrete video card NVIDIA/AMD 6GB; requires internet activation.

Recommended system requirements (HIGH graphics settings):

OS 64-bit Windows 10/11; DirectX11; CPU:  Intel or AMD 4.5Ghz+ with 8+ cores; RAM: 32+ GB ; Free hard disk space: 500 GB on Solid State Drive (SSD) + extra space for paid content ; Discrete video card NVIDIA/AMD with 8GB+ VRAM; Joystick / Pedals; requires internet activation.

Recommended VR systems requirements (VR graphics settings):

OS 64-bit Windows 10; DirectX11; CPU: Intel or AMD 4.5Ghz+ with 8+ cores; RAM: 32+ GB; Free hard disk space: 500 GB on Solid State Drive (SSD); Discrete video card NVIDIA/AMD from 16GB+ VRAM; Joystick / Pedals / VR; requires internet activation.

2. Integrated video cards from Intel are not supported.

3. Drivers for Video and Sound devices should be Updated from manufactures website
for example:
http://support.amd.com/en-us
https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/release-notes/apple-boot-camp
http://www.nvidia.com/content/global/global.phphttp://www.geforce.com/drivers
https://www.realtek.com/en/component/zoo/category/pc-audio-codecs-high-definition-audio-codecs-software
https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/graphics-drivers.html

4. If you need to completely remove AMD / NVIDIA drivers from PC please use DDU.
Display Driver Uninstaller DDU  - is a driver removal utility that can help you completely uninstall AMD/NVIDIA graphics card drivers and packages from your system, without leaving leftovers behind (including registry keys, folders and files, driver store).
http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html

5. How to use sfc/scannow - it will inspect and repair all of the important Windows files on your computer, including Windows DLL files.
a) open Command Prompt as an administrator
b) type the following command: sfc /scannow   and then press Enter
c) system File Checker will now verify the integrity of every protected operating system file on your computer

find more information on the website www.lifewire.com

Also, please run a Windows Component Store integrity check using DISM:
To perform a full scan of the component store for damage in the Windows Component Store, run the command
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
The DISM command must also be run from the command line, with administrator rights.

6. It's important to set the Windows page file to a system managed size or a custom size to 16 - 32 GB or more
find more information on the website https://www.thewindowsclub.com/increase-page-file-size-virtual-memory-windows

I cannot start the game. The screen just goes blank. What can i do?

if you were able to run the game before this problem, then...
Rename "DCS" folder to Temp in the user folder: C:\Users\User Name\Saved Games\.. and start the DCS game again

DCS World can't launch due to api-ms-win-crt-runtime-|1-1-0.dll being missing

The problem is that the KB2999226 (Universal CRT) which is part of the Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015 failed to install.
Solution

Install Windows Updates:
Go to Start - Control Panel - Windows Update
        Check for updates
        Install all available updates.
After the updates are installed, restart your computer.
After the restart repeat the steps above again until no more updates are available.

Install the Visual C++ Redistributable 2017:
       (DCS_INSTALL_DIR)/distr/vc_redist.x64.exe
the same on MS website: Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2017 (64-bit)

The whole post about this problem can be found on forums.eagle.ru

MSVCR120.dll or VCRUNTIME140.dll is missing from your computer

For MSVCR120.dll:
You can find Visual C++ Redistributable Package for Visual Studio 2013 in the installed DCS:
DCS World\distr\vcredist_x64.exe

Also you can download it from MS website
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/3179560/update-for-visual-c-2013-and-visual-c-redistributab...

You must have Service Pack 1, if you're using Windows 7

For VCRUNTIME140.dll:
Please download and install Visual C++ Redistributable Packages for Visual Studio 2015:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=52685

Visual C++ Redistributable Packages for Visual Studio 2017:
https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=746572

or Redistributable Packages for Visual Studio:

If your DCS crashes in case of installed user mods

Please delete all unofficial mods from

C:\Users\<User Name>\Saved Games\DCS\Mods\

Then run cleanup and repair - FAQ page

DCS World (1.5.x , 2.5.x) Crashes on start. I either get a black screen and then it crashes

It is important to check whether your video card is DirectX 11!

You can try to find your card at list here: List of DirectX 12 and DirectX 11 Compatible Video Cards

Please find more information about system requirements at the products pages: DCS World

Game crashes with an error in the dcs.log DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED

In most cases, it's a hardware problem with the video card or drivers.

Many hints and solutions can be found on the Internet, please Google it for - DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED

Some registry editing tips can be found online, in most cases, they do not help regarding DCS gameplay.

Try decreasing DCS graphic settings, set them to medium or low and then check gameplay.
Perhaps you need to reduce the number of monitors if you have multimonitor setup.
It's important to perform a Factory reset of your video driver settings - Restores all user settings and profiles to defaults.

In most cases, the failure is caused by overclocking of the video card (sometimes it is factory overclocking). Try to decrease overclocking of your video card using Afterburner software: https://us.msi.com/page/afterburner some users have experienced problems with factory overclock (as example, the same utility from Zotac is FireStorm).
Enable debugging mode in the Control Panel (for Nvidia).
Change the setting was at "use the advanced 3D image settings" to "let the 3D application decide" in the Nvidia control panel in the "adjust image settings with preview".

It is very important to check the power supply unit (PSU) and the outlet.
Your power supply must have more power than indicated in the description of the video card, even if you found it on the official website of the developers. Over time, power supplies often begin to deliver less power than stated by the manufacturer. Be sure to check the operation of the DCS with another, more powerful power supply.

Moving your graphics card to a different PCI-E slot on your motherboard can help troubleshoot issues.
Also there is an option in the BIOS named Above 4G Decoding, which you can Enable in order to fix the problem.
https://biosgid.ru/parametry-bios-setup/parametry-chipseta/above-4g-decoding.html
BIOS update also can play some role here.

If you can, swapping your video card with another to check the issue can also help troubleshoot a problem.

Maybe you can find another solution, don't forget to share it with us in technical support: http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/support/

The game does not start. No error messages. HitmanPro.Alert

Perhaps you have installed on your computer package HitmanPro.Alert, checking the integrity of the browser and warning the user about dangerous banking transactions in the network. This program completely blocks the work of both the editor (Launcher.exe) and the simulator (DCS.exe). The developers of this package have been notified of the problem.

I can not remove the game from a pause.

Perhaps you have installed the program Punto Switcher.
Enter the executable files of the game in the list of exceptions or disable this program before running the simulator.
