Dear Fighter Pilots, Partners and Friends,

We are pleased to share the latest development report on the DCS: CH-47F that focuses on completing the Digital Automatic Flight Control System (DAFCS) modes. This includes Position Hold and Translational Rate Command that enhance stability and reduce pilot workload. Next, development will move to multi-point sling loading and implementation of our advanced “X-ray-based” damage model system. See the full report below for more details.

We recently had the pleasure of visiting the Pueblo Weisbrod Aircraft Museum that boasts an impressive collection of combat aircraft that range from WWII to modern day. The museum offers a close-up look at many legendary aircraft that DCS pilots will be familiar with such as the  F-100D and MiG-17. Read on for more about our visit and why it’s well worth your time.

RED FLAG EU delivers high-fidelity, large-force exercises in DCS that bring together squadrons and skilled solo pilots for immersive, coordination-driven combat scenarios that are inspired by USAF Red Flag exercises. Their upcoming Operation Arctic Shield exercise will challenge participants with a complex, large-scale defensive scenario on the DCS: Kola map. Read on below for full details and how to take part.

Thank you for your passion and support.

Yours sincerely,

Eagle Dynamics

CH-47F Development Report

By Eagle Dynamics

CH-47H

DCS: CH-47F development continues with much of our attention on the Digital Automatic Flight Control System (DAFCS), specifically Position Hold. This feature will provide a stable hover reference that enables pilots to maintain precise positioning with less effort. This feature is in internal testing and being tuned to ensure responsiveness and accuracy.

We are also integrating Translational Rate Command (TRC) mode, which will work hand-in-hand with Position Hold to further expand the DCS: CH-47F’s flight envelope. With the completion of these DAFCS modes, pilots can look forward to improved workload management, enhanced mission flexibility, and reduced workload.

Following this, our focus will shift to the new rope-and-sling-loading system. This will bring multi-point sling loading to the DCS: CH-47F that will offer a much greater range of logistic and transport scenarios.

We will also implement one of the most important additions for DCS for rotary-wing aircraft: The X-ray-based damage model. Much like what you have seen in our WWII aircraft, this system will simulate internal structures and component-level damage that raises the bar for helicopter survivability and systems damage modelling. Our team is actively working on this as a high priority.

The DCS: CH-47F is shaping up to be a highly capable, technically advanced module, and we are excited to provide more updates as these features continue to mature.

Pueblo Weisbrod Aircraft Museum

We recently had the pleasure of visiting the Pueblo Weisbrod Aircraft Museum (PWAM). We were greeted by an impressive collection of historic aircraft, spacecraft, and vehicles spanning much of the history of combat aviation. Their dedicated staff were welcoming, and they shared their deep knowledge of each exhibit with passion and expertise. It was an informative and memorable experience for us.

Over several days, we explored aircraft that DCS pilots will instantly recognize like the F-100D, MiG-15bis, and MiG-17, as well as more modern aircraft like the F-15C and A-10A. PWAM is also working to acquire a rare F-14 that would be a treat for Tomcat fans. It was a fantastic opportunity to see these iconic machines up close, and it allowed us to better appreciate the real-world counterparts behind our virtual cockpits.

If you find yourself in the area, we strongly recommend a visit to PWAM that is located on the historic grounds of one of the largest WWII bomber training bases. Whether you are a DCS enthusiast or merely passionate about aviation history, this museum delivers a rewarding experience not to be missed.

Operation Arctic Shield

Red Flag Alaska 26-1

"Train as we fight."

RED FLAG EU is an online DCS community that recreates high-fidelity USAF Red Flag exercises. It coordinates immersive training for organized squadrons and skilled solo pilots that focuses on realistic air operations and command structures. Participants are challenged to refine coordination and sharpen performance with each exercise.

At its center are large-force exercises that define roles for each participant. Missions follow realistic Air Tasking Orders, and the experience emphasizes disciplined execution and "train as we fight."

A defining feature of RED FLAG EU is its emphasis on communication realism. Pilots operate under strict comms discipline across UHF and VHF networks that use standard NATO brevity and dedicated controllers. The result is a dynamic, living battlespace where success depends as much on coordination and radio discipline as it does on flying skill.

Upcoming Event: Operation Arctic Shield (Red Flag Alaska 26-1)

The next major exercise, Operation Arctic Shield, begins on April 25th, 2026, at 18:00Z on the DCS: Kola map. This scenario simulates a large-scale defensive response to a surprise invasion by “Redlandia.” Blue forces will be tasked with dismantling a dense double-digit SAM network and neutralizing mobile One-Way-Attack drones/UAV launch platforms under contested conditions.

To participate, individuals must be fully competent in their chosen aircraft, including all relevant systems management, weapons employment, and navigation procedures. Registration is open to MILSIM squadrons and solo pilots who meet these standards. Prior experience with large-force exercises (LFE) and disciplined communication is highly recommended.

If you are seeking a demanding, coordination-driven combat environment, Operation Arctic Shield offers a compelling opportunity to test your skills in the northern skies.

Thank you again for your passion and support,

Yours sincerely,
