VFA-106 "Gladiators" Skin Pack 1 (c.2004-2008)

As the East Coast Fleet Replacement Squadron, VFA-106's’ mission is to train Navy and Marine Corps F/A-18 Replacement Pilots and Weapon Systems Officers (WSOs) to support fleet commitments. Every 6 weeks, a class of between 8–12 newly winged Navy and Marine Corps pilots and Naval Flight Officers begins the 9-month training course in which they learn the basics of air-to-air and air-to-ground missions, culminating in day/night carrier qualification and subsequent assignment to fleet Hornet squadrons. VFA-106 are also well known for the airshow TAC DEMO Team. The team flies the F/A-18C and F/A-18F to show sites in the eastern United States. Instructors of the squadron fly the aircraft, and serve on a year schedule. The team demonstrates maneuvers used in training and combat flights.

This pack represents the squadron in 1996 wearing lo-vis paint. It also includes the squadron in 1997 liveries with hi-vis CAG and XO birds after the squadron moved to Beaufort, SC. The tail code was then changed to BM (Beaufort Marines) by the then commanding officer.

Strike Fighter Squadron 204, also known as the "River Rattlers", is a U.S. Navy Reserve strike fighter squadron flying the F/A-18C (previously F/A-18A+) Hornet. The squadron is based out of Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base New Orleans and is part of the United States Navy Reserve's Tactical Support Wing. Their radio callsign is "River" and their tail code is AF.

UPDATED - 12/09/2018: Replaced CAG airbrake texture with correct art. Added aircraft number 411 (Gonky's aircraft).

A-4L VA-204 River Rattlers (c.1976-1977)

Attack Squadron 204 (VA-204) was established at NAS Memphis, Tennessee on 1 July 1970, flying the A-4C Skyhawk as part of a reorganization intended to increase the combat readiness of the Naval Air Reserve Force. The squadron was assigned to Carrier Air Wing Reserve 20 (CVWR-20). Shortly after transitioning to the A-4E Skyhawk in 1971, the squadron deployed for two weeks with CVWR-20 embarked on the USS John F. Kennedy, a Naval Reserve first.<br />

VA-204 won back to back CVWR-20 Bombing Derbies in 1971 and 1972. In May 1972, the squadron participated in exercise Exotic Dancer V, designed to test multiservice operations under a unified command organization. VA-204 received the CNO annual Safety Award for 1973, in recognition of over 5,000 hours of accident free flying for the year. In 1975, the squadron won the F. Trubee Davison Award as the "Best Tailhook Squadron in the Naval Reserve"
