The end of the Belkan War in 1995 saw the Early Warning network of the small country entirely devastated, with dozens of AWACS, radars and other sensors damaged, destroyed, or captured, forcing the now sizably smaller Air Force to look at other options for airborne early warning.
The E-2 Hawkeye, used the world over became their answer. Based in Malzenburg Air Base in Southeast Belka, the 105th Early Warning Squadron is the Fatherland's eyes and ears towards their long-time geopolitical rival Osea.
The Squadron came to some notoriety during a little known event in December 2010 when unconfirmed reports of an aerial battle around Stier Castle in South Belka occurred. Those who discuss the alleged event cite a transmission made by 105th AEWS aircraft tracking a force moving from Osea, and vectoring Belkan Air Force aircraft to intercept.
To this day, Neither Osea nor Belka have confirmed any event took place on that day. With the Belkan Air Force going as far to make note of a similar Exercise occurring in the area around that time that the 105th AEWS was supporting.
