High-poly historic Russian Frigate. Quickly brings some color and diversion into your sceneries. With a total of 6 LODs impact on framerate is neglectable.
May not be for the hardcore historian, but for the leisure-inclined simmer who enjoys to take his warbird (or Yak-52, Christen Eagle, WWI aircraft) on a peaceful early morning spin.
INSTALLATION /TECH STUFF
Extract zip-file into your Saved Games/DCSxyz folder. ZIP has OVGME ready folder structure.
The collison modell is restricted to the ship's hull. You can safely fly thru sails and masts!
The slightly transparent sails in LOD0 and LOD1 come with a downside: fr om certain perspectives you may notice aweird occlusion effect resp. an offset in depth.
The ship comes with a moderate wake. Just what seems appropriate for a sailship with no screws and an average speed of around 10 knots.
Since in DCS this sailship will not be used in a historic correct context, I took the liberty to replace the flag of the Russian Navy with the logo of the Museovirasto. Original Russian flag (blue cross on white) can be found in 'textures' folder.
*** Important note: For the ship to rock slightly the mission wind settings for 10m above sea level must be set to at least 3 m/s! ***

The Aleksander class frigate Svjatoi Nikolai was the largest Russian archipelago navy class ship in 1790. The ship sunk in the Second Battle of Svensksund (Ruotsinsalmi) on July 9th 1790 and was rediscovered in 1948.
As mentioned, this addon is a bit «out of time». However, some facsimile sailships can be seen in maritime museums or as touristic attractions. And on the open sea there are some tour agencies that operatate modern sailships of similar size. So you may use it in any modul you like, Normandy, The Channel, Syria. And feel free to share your missions and templates!
