UPDATE: The Cyprus Situation

A fictional PvP/ PvE between Turkish and Greek forces over Cyprus.

This update is mainly script modifications, but it also includes a dedicated single-player version with playable airborne aircraft for instant action.

Tensions between Greek and Turkish Cypriots have once again begun to flare up, as Turkey begins to tap into oil and gas reserves recently discovered by Tüpraş off the northern and eastern coast of Cyprus.

This has sparked outrage amongst the ethnically Greek population, as they see the move as nothing more than the plunder of Cyprus' resources by the Turks, still occupying the northern third of the island some three decades after Turkish troops first landed on Cyprian soil, during the 1974 invasion.

Turkey has since deployed an additional division to the island, stating its troops stand ready to defend their citizens from any reprisals by Greek Cypriot Nationalists intent on inflicting harm.

The Greeks have responded in kind by stationing a squadron of Mirage fighters to the Island, as well as deploying several fast attack craft to patrol Cyprian waters in an effort to deter any further Turkish oil exploration.

The United Nations has since called for calm and has urged both sides to deescalate the situation and stop the provocations towards one another. However, UN forces stationed on the island are stretched thin and barely able to man the many checkpoints along the Green Line, leaving the door open for confrontation between the longtime adversaries...

Mission Notes:

This is an open-world sandbox, loosely based in reality. The main objective is to seize control of all airfields on Cyprus, (except those of RAF Akrotiri and the UN-operated airfield at Nicosia) with the limited resources at hand - Having a dedicated commander will greatly help in achieving this goal.

The main Turkish base on Cyprus is Gecitkale, so use it to rearm if flying Tigers or Vipers.

Blue team will need to rearm at either Paphos Air Base or alternatively the FARP atop Mount Olympus if they're flying a chopper.

Additional FARPs and ground units can be procured from any supply depo via the F10 menu. (marked on your map)

Both teams have several groups of ground units stationed along the border, but they will only spawn in when an enemy aircraft is nearby. (If you're struggling to find them, try spamming "CTRL F5")

Both teams have a single fighter on CAP patrolling their sector of the Island. However, if you are detected by radar in enemy airspace, GCI will dynamically scramble an equivalent number of aircraft as they detect. Each team uses Hawk search radars for early warning, so protecting them should be a priority for both teams. Once they are all destroyed, your GCI will be blind.

This mission also uses Skynet, so be aware that any medium-range SAMs at mission start (Hawks/BUKs) will be smarter, and hence more dangerous than usual. To disable Skynet, you will need to find and destroy the enemy's command bunkers, communications towers, and/or their power stations. Both teams have a pair of each. (marked on your map)
