SITUATION

The Georgian / NATO operation to retake the northern village was successful, due in large part to your efforts.  Well done to all involved!
The Russian Foreign ministry has accused NATO of conducting indiscriminate attacks against Russian civilians residing in Northern Georgia, and has called for an immediate no fly zone for NATO aircraft within 10 miles of the Russian and Abkhazian border.  They are demanding an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council to implement such a zone, and have also indicated that they may take matters into their own hands if NATO aircraft fly anywhere near their borders.

Naturally, NATO and the Georgian government find this threat to be outrageous, and have responded saying that NATO and Georgian aircraft will protect Georgian airspace from any and all intruders.

MISSION

This afternoon’s flight will be a Combat Air Patrol focusing on maintaining Georgian sovereignty.  For the first time, we will be working with an ANG KC-135.  This American squadron has not yet worked in this AOR, so we will be tanking with them shortly after launch, in order to learn how to work better together.

THREATS

Russian Air Forces may attempt to test NATO today by flying close to or even across the border.  We do not recognize their 10 mile claim into Georgian airspace, and we will intercept any Russian aircraft that cross.

Russian MiG-29 CAP seems to be operating 24 hours a day, just a few miles fr om the border.  They do have AWACS and GCI support, and are armed with radar and IR guided missiles.

Russian SAM/IADS are on high alert, and will likely engage any NATO aircraft that crosses the border.  Be aware of your position at all times and do not cross the border.
Do not lock radars onto any Russian aircraft unless they have crossed into Georgian airspace.
ROE Weapons tight.  Do not fire unless directed by MAGIC or if you are fired upon.
