You will lead a 4-ship flight of F/A-18C departing Sharjah International to destroy the airport’s runways and any other targets of opportunity. Mission includes data card and flight plan.
Iranian forces have escalated aggressive harassment of US and other allied forces in the PG. Reliable HUMINT sources confirm that these attacks are being planned and coordinated by a group of Revolutionary Guards operating out of Bandar Abbas International Airport (code named Grand Canyon). In response, Carrier Strike Group 3 has been ordered to conduct an attack to destroy airport facilities capable of providing military support. Two main attack groups consisting of 4xA-10C and 4xF/A-18C, supported by F-16C SEAD flight will conduct the attack.
TASK: Primary – You will lead a 4-ship flight of F/A-18C departing Sharjah International to destroy the airport’s runways and any other targets of opportunity. Fly 270 KIAS climbing to A15 until your flight is formed up to prevent avoidable use of afterburner, then increase speed to 400 KIAS to WP2. Fly 450 KIAS NOE to WP3. Proceed directly to target runways if Bulldog 2 is prosecuting air defenses and execute bomb runs when cleared by Bulldog. Be alert to any remaining air defense systems and make attack run with Mk-82 snakeyes (since no true runway destruction munitions are currently available) at 500 KAIS and 350’. Springfield will attack structures. Timing is critical to minimize risk from air defenses: set time on target, WP4, for 06:42:30.
Challenge of this mission is navigation timing and avoiding residual air defenses at the target. Random features and radio traffic enhance the mission. Enjoy.
