Project 1171, Tapir Landing Ship (NATO reporting name Alligator) based on the Saratov in active service
Project 1171 is a beachable landing ship capable of rear and front loading and supplying troops and vehicles direct to beach heads with moderate fire support and Air Defence. After the dissolution of the Soviet Union, the remaining serving Tapir's were refitted to work more as military cargo transport for the RF Navy. The noticeable changes were to remove weaponry and add transport loading capabilities. The original design had 3 23mm AAA, Grad-M MLRS mounted on the bow and often just one loading crane. The Saratov and Nikolai Filchenko are currently active in 2016, transporting military equipment to Syria in support of Russian Federation operations.
I have redone the cabin and also done some work on the textures.
