The RNLAF flew the F-86 K "KAASJAGER" version, it was a simpler version of the F-86D.
The choice on this aircraft partly fell because of the agreement that there did not have to be paid for fully,
but only half, because they were delivered in the framework of the Mutual Defence Assistance Programme (MDAP).
The Royal Netherlands Air Force took 63 F-86K's in service, which here would be known as the "Cheese Hunter" / "Kaas Jager".
The first F-86 K entered service of 700 Squadron in August 1955, on Soesterberg airbase.
In 1956 the squadrons were based on the Twenthe 701 and 702 also equipped with this Hunter.
A short time later, the 700 Squadron moved from Soesterberg Airbase and joined the other two squadrons at Twenthe airbase.
