If you don't want to use the suggested mods, remove the first several Triggers in the Mission Editor.
This is my first mission for distribution to the community, so it's fairly simple. But I did use some randomized group functions, so you can replay it multiple times without seeing the same situations. Things are not always what they seem; combat is a chaotic environment. Keep your head on a swivel and listen to all the radio calls.
The Russians have begun a war with their neighbors, and a US-led coalition has actually made the decision to stop them. You are part of an A-10A unit based temporarily at the Tblisi airfield, and there are some allied ground units scattered around the airfield. In this area, the Russians have been pushed into the west. There are reports of enemy ground forces heading into the hills to the north of the airfield. Your orders are to go into that area, find out what's going on, and engage any enemy forces you find there. You'll start on the ground, in your cockpit, awaiting specific tasking for your flight. (see the briefing materials for maps and more specific information).
Playing through the whole mission usually takes me about 45 minutes, assuming I don't screw up. I can succeed about 50% of the time. You will be informed if you succeed or not.
I've set this mission up for the A-10A (since I don't own the "C" variant), and this makes this mission challenging, since it doesn't have the fancy sensors/weapons of the newest variant. There's no reason that other aircraft couldn't be substituted.
If you find this mission too difficult, try it with "dot" labels ON. You'll see why this can make a huge difference when you're in the mission.
