An international tribunal decided that the Iranian occupation of Sirri Island at the time of the Iranian revolution was illegal. US and coalition forces have retaken the island and the Mullahs in Tehran are threatening reprisals. Iranian proxy forces have now landed west of Khasab in the trucial state of Oman. Helicopter borne forces are ready at Khasab to intervene. Pre-emptive strikes on scud sites west of Banda e Lengeh have been authorised by Middle East Command as they are an immediate threat to our forces on Sirri. Events seem destined to lead to a wider, more serious, escalation.
