Map - Persian Gulf
The most comprehensive, accurate and up-to-date map of the oil rigs and offshore platforms in the Persian Gulf as of January 2021. Includes the fairly correct maritime boundaries.

DESCRIPTION

This Mission Editor template contains the vast majority of oil rigs and offshore platforms that are currently (as of January 2021) active or docked in the Persian Gulf. More than 130 rigs with their actual names have been accurately placed at their exact locations (according to the data from MarineTraffic, Infield, ArcGIS and other sources).

Rigs' countries have been assigned based on their current position in different territorial waters. A fairly correct and current maritime boundaries are provided to aid in mission planning.

The template consists of two files. The first contains every Iranian and UAE rig (you will probably be using this one most of the time). The second packs Bahrain's, Qatar's and Saudi Arabia's rigs, and the maritime boundaries. Even with both files loaded, the performance impact is insignificant.

HOW TO INSTALL

Extract the downloaded archive, then copy both STM files into your "Saved Games\DCS (or DCS.openbeta)\StaticTemplate\" directory. You may need to create the "StaticTemplate" folder if it doesn't exist.

HOW TO USE

* In the Mission Editor, create or open any Persian Gulf mission. Choose "Edit > Load Static Template" from the top menu, then pick one of the templates from the list. Repeat for the second template if needed.
* Upon loading the template, you will most likely see an empty map. This is normal, since all rigs in the Mission Editor are set to hidden (to avoid cluttering the F10 map). You need to press the "View Unit List" button on the left panel, then tick the "Show Hidden Units" checkbox.
* You can use the same list to delete units you don't need. "Remote" are located outside the detailed map area (Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Qatar), "Extra" are static Iranian ships, "UAE Shore" are rigs docked at ports near Dubai and Abu Dhabi, and "Map" are the maritime boundaries.
* The Yak-40 model, used to "draw" the maritime boundaries, exists only in the Mission Editor. You won't see it in-game, nor it will affect your missions in any way.
