Recent oil prospect operations have discovered an undersea deposit.
This finding has quickly triggered a dispute for the rights of that deposit between Turkey and the Autonomous Republic of Adjara.
Diplomacy did not produce any agreement on the rights and tension continued to escalate.
During the past weeks there have been suspicious incidents in Batumi oil refineries, where oil from Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan is refined.
Turkey government has denied any involvement. The Adjara investigators claim otherwise.
Last week two private prospector ships have been sunk by turkish armed boats claiming territorial waters violation. Diplomatic relations between Turkey and Georgia have been interrupted and both parts recalled their ambassadors.
UN approved a resolution to move a limited contingent to monitor the situation and keep peace in the area.
