The F-106 was a supersonic delta-winged interceptor in service with the OADF from the early 1960s to the early 1980s, used for both point defense and longer range interceptions. It carried three AIM-26 Falcon air-to-air missiles, and although integrating the AIM-7 Sparrow and AIM-9 Sidewinder was proposed the project never left the drawing board. It has noticeable similarities to the Emmerian-built Mirage III in performance and looks. Increasingly the Delta Dart is finding popularity as a warbird, with over 20 restored to airworthiness and seven more are in the late phases of restoration. One was controversially entered in the 2020 November City Air Races in the jet class, but regardless of the controversy surrounding supersonic aircraft it lost to an F9F-6 Cougar.
