For the RNoAF's 50 year anniversary in 1994 one F-16 from each squadron was painted up with flag strips on the tail and the wings. This is F-16AM 78-0289, the 338 sqn flagship, as she looked in 1994.

2021 marks the end of the RNoAF F-16s. Before flying back to it's home base in Bodø, "680", the last Norwegian F-16 to be serviced by AIM Norway at Kjeller, was returned to the old style squadron markings (with the 338 sqn finflash on the right side, and the 331 sqn fin flash on the left), and a commemorative design was applied to the two ventral fins.

After being involved in a mid-air collision and a landing mishap F-16AM 80-3686 was nicknamed "Crash Eight Six". In 2012 she was chosen as the display aircraft for the celebration of a hundred years of Norwegian Military Air Power and painted up in red, white and blue - the Norwegian national colors. In 2013 she was returned to the standard RNoAF grey paint scheme.

For the 75th anniversary of 331 sqn F-16AM 78-0277 was given a special tail. The approved design was grey and green, the colors used on the Norwegian Spitfires, with a stencil of the 331 sqn crest, but somewhere along the line someone messed up and what was applied to the aircraft was black and blue. The stencils fell off after a short while.
