Situation Update:
On the second day of the conflict, a decisive blow was dealt to Iran's major SAM sites along the southern coast of Hormuz, expanding the operational airspace for our allied forces. In response, the Iranian Air Force intensified fighter sweep missions, exploiting the vulnerable southern coastal area lacking air defense support. To mitigate the escalating air threats, the CVN 71 strike group strategically increased Combat Air Patrol (CAP) flights on the third day, safeguarding friendly aircraft from airborne threats. Anticipating the imminent ground operation planned for the following day, the Commander General prioritizes neutralizing Iran's vital military assets in the coastal region. Targets include outposts, command centers, communication towers, and weapon storage facilities, aimed at diminishing Iran's defense capabilities. This concerted effort sets the stage for impending amphibious attacks by the ready and standby Marines, who are awaiting orders to initiate assaults and establish landing zones near Bandar-e Jask and Bandar-e Lengeh. On the evening of the third day, the Joint Commanding Center orchestrates a comprehensive air package, comprising pinpoint strike attackers, bombers, and a substantial air group dedicated to Target Area Combat Air Patrol. The VFA-97 Hawks squadron, deploying two flights each comprising four F/A-18C Hornets fighters, assumes the critical role of preventing hostile aircraft from infiltrating the operational area. In the upcoming night-time air combat operations, Navy pilots from the VFA-97 Hawks squadron leverage the advanced technologies of their F/A-18C Hornets to outmatch their adversaries flying Soviet-era machines. This tactical advantage positions them to successfully engage and defeat enemy forces, ensuring air superiority over the operational theater.
