RN FRS1 Sea Harrier (Late-Falklands) Livery for AV-8B as used in the Later part of the Falklands war, a medium grey version of the "La muerte negra" color scheme that was deemed too dark at altitude.
With the arrival of the excellent South Atlantic map, the opportunity is here to recreate some of the historical actions of the Falklands War.
Prior to the Falklands conflict, RN Fleet Air Arm Sea Harriers carried a two-tone scheme consisting Extra Dark Sea Grey with a white underside. During the campaign, these aircraft had the white portions overpainted to make an overall "Extra Dark Sea Grey" scheme.
While in some photographs this scheme appears a blue color, it is Extra Dark Sea Grey. The white underside color was painted out on 800Sqn aircraft on the trip to the Falklands, leaving these aircraft overall Extra Dark Sea Grey. Operationally this overall scheme was deemed too dark and replacement aircraft were painted with a lighter scheme of overall Medium Sea Grey. All aircraft were gradually repainted in the lighter scheme during and after the campaign. Replacement aircraft for the Falklands campaign were painted overall Medium Sea Grey - although in practice the colors ranged from a very light grey color, through to a purple hue. Note the subdued color of the RAF roundels.
This skin represents the later incarnation of the Sea Harrier Livery, as used by 800 squadron.
Simply unzip the folder into "DCS\Liveries\" folder located within your "Saved Games" folder (typically located in C:\Users\[YOUR-USERNAME]).
