V2.0 Released 1.15.16 - Fixed ASP missile/gyro mis-label. Fixed normal mapping, specular & shadow issues w/ armament panel texture. Removed US Units altimeter face due to it being totally useless. Re-pathed everything for 1.5/2.0. Fixed some alpha glitches on the dash textures.
v2.1 Completely overhauled alpha channel for both Metric and Imperial versions to comply with 1.5.4/2.0.2 changes; cranked the contrast a bit for the alpha channel as the gauges seem overly-lit in the darkness.
WHAT IS THIS?
This is an actually full and complete English overhaul - includes airspeed & few other gauges in Imperial units, many gauge faces have been re-textured with US-measurement units (IAS in knots, fuel in LBS, etc), all have been labeled in English. The altimeter unfortunately I cannot translate effectively to read feet MSL; its just not feasible. ALL placards, panels and misc. lettering items have been translated into English (or replaced with an English analog).
This mod is texture-based only, no LUAs have been modified, nothing rescripted, nothing reprogrammed. Believe me, I tried to actually convert instrument devices themselves in the MiG-21bis read on more US-unit-friendly scales. This would require re-coding by Leatherneck, and that's not very likely to happen. SO. Here we are.
WHAT IS UNCHANGED?
For hydraulics, air pressure and EGT, I saw no reason to spend the time converting the dial faces to read PSI/ºF etc, because A.) They are absolute quantity gauges (duh) and they also have idiot-proof color coded ranges on the dial faces. You can still invent a better idiot, though.
HOW ACCURATE ARE THESE GAUGES?
Very. I did the math many times on the converted gauge faces out to 14 decimal places. Bear in mind however, that Leatherneck Simulations went to EXTENSIVE lengths to model the MiG-21bis in PAINFUL realistic detail. This means that they probably modeled very 1960s, VERY Soviet instruments - this means not all of the instruments are themselves surgically accurate. My dial faces however, ARE.
I WANT A VERSION OF THIS COCKPIT WITH MY FAMILY PHOTO OR SOMETHING ELSE TAPED UP TO THE GUNSIGHT!
