Accelerated Start-Up Procedure

1 Welcome aboard, trainee!
2 Today we'll take a look at the accelerated start-up procedure for the Black Shark.
3 Here are the steps required for start-up:
4 First, turn on the batteries using the battery switches.
5 Turn on the radio intercom using the intercom switch and the R-800 radio using the VHF-2 switch on the wall panel.
6 Turn on the power switch to provide power to the transmission, hydraulics, and EKRAN systems [N + LALT + LCTRL + LSHIFT] and [N + LCTRL + LSHIFT]. Reset the Master Warning light [M].
7 Turn on the inertial navigation unit power switch to provide power to the INU [I + RCTRL + RALT].
8 Turn on the K-041 power switch on the Targeting Control panel to turn on the Targeting and Navigation System [D + LSHIFT] and the ABRIS power switch to turn on the ABRIS panel [0 + RSHIFT].
9 Turn on the stand-by ADI [N + RSHIFT], the fire suppression system [Z + LCTRL + LSHIFT], and the fuel gauge [H + LCTRL + LSHIFT].
10 Set the APU shut-off valve switch to the open position [L + RCTRL + RSHIFT], [L + RALT + RCTRL + RSHIFT], turn on the forward and rear fuel tank boost pumps [A + LCTRL + LSHIFT], [D + LCTRL + LSHIFT], and start the APU by pressing the start button [HOME].
11 Release the rotor brake [R + LSHIFT] and close the cockpit door [C + RCTRL].
12 Open the left engine shut-off valve [J + RCTRL + RSHIFT] and [J + RALT + RCTRL + RSHIFT], turn on the left engine electronic governor [HOME + RCTRL], [HOME + RALT + RCTRL], set the selector on the left panel to the Left Engine position [E], press the Start button [HOME], and then open the cut-off valve to the left engine
[PAGE UP + RCTRL].
13 Confirm that the engine is spooling up to idle power in less than 60 seconds.
14 Now repeat this procedure for the right engine.
15 Open the right engine shut-off valve [K + RCTRL + RSHIFT] and [K + RALT + RCTRL + RSHIFT], turn on the right engine electronic governor [END + RCTRL], [END + RALT + RCTRL], set the selector on the left panel to the Right Engine position [E], press the Start button [HOME], and then open the right engine
cut-off valve [PAGE DOWN + RCTRL].
16 Confirm that the engine is spooling up to idle power in less than 60 seconds.
17 Shut down the APU [END] and close the APU shut-off valve [L + RALT + RCTRL + RSHIFT], [L + RCTRL + RSHIFT]. Uncage the stand-by ADI by turning the knob counter-clockwise until it is depressed.
18 Lower the collective to its lowest position and set the engine RPM levers to the Automatic position ([PAGE-UP] twice). Turn on the generators [Y + LCTRL + LSHIFT] and [U + LCTRL + LSHIFT] and then turn on the dust protection system [I + LALT].
19 Set the PVI mode switch to the Oper./Normal position ([V + RALT] by moving the switch left [B + RALT] or right). Power up the data link by turning on the power with the power switch [P + LCTRL + LSHIFT], and turn on the data link with the data link enable switch [B + RCTRL]. Select the desired operating mode on the Data Link panel [M + LCTRL], and set the ownship number as required [I + LCTRL].
20 Turn on the UV-26 infrared countermeasures system [C + LALT + LSHIFT], [C + LCTRL + LSHIFT] and the L-140 laser warning receiver [N + LCTRL] on the rear panel.
21 Adjust HUD brightness as desired [H + RCTRL + RSHIFT], [H + RALT + RSHIFT].
22 Engage the bank, pitch, and yaw autopilot channels [B + LSHIFT], [P + LSHIFT], [H + LSHIFT] and the ejection system (three switches) [E + RSHIFT + RCTRL + RALT], [E + RALT + RSHIFT], [R + RALT + RSHIFT], [T + RALT + RSHIFT].
23 Turn on the navigation lights [L + RALT], rotor tip lights [J + RALT], strobe light [J + RSHIFT] and formation lights [J + RCTRL].
24 You're good to go! This should have taken less than 30 seconds to complete, 45 if blind-folded. This concludes our lesson on the accelerated start-up procedure.
25 You can take over control now by pressing the "ESC" key. Have a good flight.

Taxi Procedures

1 Welcome aboard, trainee!
2 Today we'll examine taxi procedures.
3 The taxi procedures includes the following steps:
4 Turn on the navigation lights [L+RAlt], rotor tip lights [J+RAlt], and strobe light [J+Rshift] when in poor visibility conditions.
5 After visually confirming the taxiway is clear, release the wheel brakes [W].
6 Raise the collective 1/4 of its range and smoothly push the cyclic forward to initiate movement.
7 Control ground speed by adjusting cyclic, collective, and wheel brakes as needed.
8 The speed limit when taxing on a hard, smooth surface is 15 km/h with a maximum wind speed of 20 m/s.
9 To come to a complete stop, neutralize the cyclic, lower the collective, and apply the wheel brakes.
10 In case the wheel brakes fail, pull back on the cyclic and increase the collective to slow down using the rotors until you're nearly hovering. Adjust the cyclic to prevent the helicopter from rolling back onto its tail.
11 When turning, apply both rudder and cyclic in the direction of the turn, but make sure the helicopter does not bank more than 5 degrees, and never attempt to turn at high speeds.
12 Always avoid a reverse taxi and turning on a single wheel.
13 Remember that the helicopter will have a tendency to turn into the wind, and roll slightly downwind when taxing in a crosswind. It is not recommended to compensate a roll with less than 5 degrees.
14 Taxis on soil or snow should be performed with extreme caution and at speeds of no more than 5 km/h. Nose wheel bounce should be avoided by controlling the helicopter via the cyclic and collective.
15 This concludes our lesson on taxiing.
16 You can now take over control by pressing the "ESC" key. Have a good flight.

Post-Flight Shutdown Procedure

1 Welcome aboard, trainee!
2 Today, we'll be reviewing the engine shut down procedure.
3 The engine shut down procedure includes the following steps:
4 First, move the cyclic and the rudder pedals to their neutral position and move the collective all the way down.
5 Turn off the ABRIS [0 + RSHIFT] and turn off the targeting and navigation systems [D + LSHIFT].
6 Turn off the generators [Y + LCTRL + LSHIFT] and [U + LCTRL + LSHIFT] and make sure the INVERTER lamp on the overhead panel is lit.
7 Move the engine throttle levers to the idle position ([PAGE DOWN] twice).
8 Turn off all electrically-powered systems except for power plant parameter indicators.
9 Shut down the engines by moving the cut-off valve levers to the closed position [PAGE UP + RCTRL] and [PAGE DOWN + RCTRL].
10 Engage the rotor brake [R +LSHIFT] when rotor RPM is less than 30%.
11 After the engines have fully spool down, close the engine fuel shut-off valves. Left engine: switch cover [J + RALT + RCTRL + RSHIFT], switch [J + RCTRL + RSHIFT] and Right engine: switch cover [K + RALT + RCTRL + RSHIFT], switch [K + RCTRL + RSHIFT].
12 Turn off the fuel boost pumps.  Outer external tanks: [G + LCTRL + LSHIFT]; Inner external tanks: [F + LCTRL + LSHIFT]; Forward tank: [A + LCTRL + LSHIFT]; and Rear tank: [D + LCTRL + LSHIFT]
13 Cage the stand-by ADI by pulling the knob and turning it clockwise. The knob will then remain in this position.
14 And turn off the batteries. BATT1  ([E + LALT +LCTRL + LSHIFT] for the switch cover and [E + LCTRL + LSHIFT] for the switch BATT2 ([W + LALT +LCTRL + LSHIFT] for the switch cover and [W + LCTRL + LSHIFT] for the switch.
15 This concludes our brief lesson on the engine shut down procedure.
16 You can take over control now by pressing the "ESC" key. Have a good flight.
